OUR PROGRAM

This year’s program leans on embodied leadership, the deep wisdom of Bell Hooks’ teaching to transgress, and pushing past the edges of our ‘ways of knowing”. 

This year we go beyond, think different, practice at the margins, center traditional midwifery. 

Our program will commence on the afternoon of Thursday, the 12th. Please book your flights to arrive in time for 3pm check-in. We will be together for two full days of speakers, dialogues, and practice and we will close the gathering on Sunday the 15th at 12pm.

Thursday, November 12 — Arrival and Opening

Friday, November 13 — the Dialogue and Deepening

 

8:00 - 8:30 AM:  Kick-Off opening ceremony

9:00 - 10:30 AM:  Dr. Stu: re-teaching of twin and breech birth skills, and your history of bridging medical and midwifery perspectives align beautifully with the vision of this convening. In particular lead a conversation around the ethics and pragmatics of informed decision-making in high-skill births, as well as guide participants in hands-on breech birth maneuvers.

10:30 - 11:00 AM:  Break 

11:00 - 12:30 PM:   Martha Arotingo: Founder of Partera di Anaku, is a living testament to ancestral resilience, community care, and reclamation of birthing sovereignty, how your midwifery work, your community, your language, and your cultural inheritance have shaped your journey in birthing wisdom

12:30 - 2:00 PM:  Lunch (providing prompts or guidance for lunch conversation to bring back)

2:00 - 3: 30 PM:  Hermine Hayes Klein: defense of autonomy, human rights, and legal integration of midwifery, and global voice for respectful maternity care are profoundly aligned with the vision of this convening.  the integration of clinical autonomy, midwifery rights, and legal framework or bridging law and lineage - protecting traditional birth knowledge through legal recognition.

3:30 PM - 4: 00 PM:  Break 

4:00 - 5:30 PM:  Rixa Freeze: video analysis, bridging global breech education across borders or turning academic rigor into embodied wisdom and practice as well as guide participants in hands-on breech birth maneuvers. Work in translating breech knowledge across linguistic, geographic, and educational borders resonates powerfully with what we hope to achieve at this convening.

Saturday, November 14 — SIMULATION DAY

12:30-2:30 PM:  Food Truck Lunch circled up around Dona Lina: a sacred demonstration of rebozo practice, offering participants an embodied way to recognize and honor the care, protection, and balance this skill and ceremony brings to birth

Sunday, November 15 — The Integration

8:30 - 9:15 AM:  Sendoff Cacao ceremony and ritual : Maria 

9:15 - 10:30 AM:  Mama Sarahn: join Mama Sarahn for a sacred session exploring ancestral knowledge and rituals for caring for twins and breech births. Participants will reconnect with lineage, engage in reflective practices, and learn how to integrate time-honored wisdom into modern birthwork. Through storytelling, ritual, and circle dialogue, this session honors both the spiritual and practical dimensions of birth. In conversation with Sevonna + Haize
